Product Review: Aleks On Line Math Program

Finally, an online math program my daughter enjoys! It is professionally done and no distractions from a bunch of busy characters. It is a simple way to learn math.

Dede did her own review and here it is to start you off. She must like it to want to do her own review since she is the user, not me!

A word from Deidra on Aleks math program
Aleks is a fun math program because it’s a fun way to learn to do math; it helps you do the problems, lets you use a dictionary if you need to know what a word is, and sometimes lets you use a calculator. It lets you do the problem over again if you get it wrong, and that’s cool. My favorite part of Aleks is the inbox. You can send messages to people, get replies, and get help from Aleks customer support. Aleks is a great way to learn, so I would recommend it.

Why I like Aleks:

Aleks is an oline math program for grades 3 and up. Now this is a math program I can get excited about and I am sure you will to.
I like Aleks for its detailed pie charts so that we can keep track of progress. And the program wont let your child go on until they have learned whats needed to go on to another lesson.
You also get regular emails with reports for each child. This comes in handy if you have not had time to check on them online.
The lessons are easy and give detailed instructions on not only how to do the math problem but it also teaches you how to fill in the answers.
They also have excellent customer service. I received fast replies from questions I had.

To be honest with you, this is our second time to try out this program. I had done a free trial in the past for 30 days. So when I found out I was getting a chance to review this, I was a bit excited. I thought this would be a wonderful blessing for Kiki. She did great with it the first time around. This time she is having trouble. She tends to do her math in her head or “air write” out things. She likes to work things out in her head. She enjoys her Math-U-See better. I thought she would like this better because she loves computer based activities.
Which brings me to this; you can easily go in and change what your child is working on if something is too hard or too easy. So we are working with changing which level she is on and seeing how that works right now for her.

So, depending on your child’s needs, this might be the program for you.

The Cost:

I must say, I can use this program wonderfully with Internet Explorer. When I switched to Safari browser, Aleks had to recheck the plug-ins needed to run the program. Everything worked out fine and I did not have to do anything extra to make it work. This makes me happy. I am not a fan of having to go in to my computer and make changes to settings to get a program to work. So I had no problems with this at all.

That’s all for now. I am happy to share this program with you and I hope you will check it out.
I have so many different options I am looking at for a math program for later in the year. This is at the top of my list. I don’t feel qualified to teach math as I am not good in math. I want a program that will teach for me and I can feel confident that my girls are learning. That takes some pressure off of me and this program does that.
